Week 8

Different tools are made and developed by those people who aspire to make life fast and easy, surely they have succeeded and proved that it truly helps.

In the media world, tools are essential to make everything work. It helps everything set and be delivered easily, faster and properly.

For example in Print media, tools like typewriters are used to print all the news articles, they publish, but thru time, people have discovered and developed computers and surely it had made printing and writing articles, news stories easy and faster. It saves time and energy and gives out a very comfortable setting for the user. There are also other tools that have been developed and which helps every work easy for a writer and a reporter to accomplish their jobs properly, efficiently and meet their deadlines. Also, camera is a must for print media, it is a given that reporters need pictures to go with their stories and thru time cameras are also developed to be a user friendly, these days digital cameras are a very much a the “user friendly” type rather the big old cameras that they’ve used before and which also needs films to operate it, digital cameras helps the reporter upload pictures on the computer and easily attached it to their articles. A lot of tools have been developed and being use at present. It certainly helps the reporter, each and every worker in a publishing company or any other fields in the media world. It assures a very productive work environment.

Week 7

If I were to be asked, I think that blogs/ blog sites can certainly help reporters write their reaction towards an issue, post their insights and comments which can be very helpful. Especially if we are doing a research it can surely be our basis and reference to the research.

A lot of blogs today are very helpful and informative because a lot of people post blogs that gives out a lot of informations which we can really learn from and reporters can use it as a source too, or make it as back up support for their research and add it up as one of their materials. These days, we can find a lot of blogs sites in the internet and most of it are written by people who aspires to reach and give help to those people who are looking for informations that they could not find on other web sites, to those who seek for opinions from people who have already encountered certain issues and wrote about it in their own blogs which will certainly be like a somewhat advice/ information source.

During the early days of the internet blog sites and bloggers are not yet fully discovered or patronized till recent years because people have found out that it is truly helpful if they post articles or their own writings in the internet. Blogs also gives a reporter an easy access to informations they need and so are those people who wants to read comments and suggestions by bloggers from all over the globe.

Week 6

Certainly reporters would have a hard time to report the truth, give out their opinions or speak their minds thru their blogs, if they are not encourage to write on blogs in their country. It would surely be hard to deal when the authorities doesn’t encourage to post or speak our minds thru blog posting. It’s like they are being oppressed by their freedom of the press and freedom of expression. It is like they are being held on the neck so they could not give out their opinion to the public and for public’s awareness, reporters have no choice but to follow what the authorities want them to do and this is not good for they are controlling and holding back the right of the reporters to report, also the right of the people to be informed and to know what the reporters think and say about a certain issues in their country. If authorities in that particular country does not encourage blogging/posting in blogs then if we think of it carefully it is like they are hindering the reporters to speak up, it’s like they are being bias. Stopping reporters for posting a blog that contains any possible glitch or stain which would start to give out wrong or misinterpretation and also may cause to open the eyes of the people for possible truth about their government. Here in our Country, we are not discouraged to post a blog; rather we are given the opportunity to practice our freedom to express and the freedom of the press. Also this given opportunity should be taken care of because for sure there would be people who have vested interest and who would intend to manipulate it for their own interests and benefits.

Week 5

Be given the motto "Every Citizen is a Reporter" has its pros and cons. It can be use properly or can be manipulated into the other person’s benefit. This tends to make the news invalid at times, for they will somewhat turn out to be re-written by other people who can be the 2nd or 3rd hand receiver of that particular news. As for a true written news, it is being delivered and written by journalist who are credible to give out news information to the mass people and who are the 1st hand and actual receiver of the news. Also, who aspires for the soul purpose of getting news and delivering it to the people so they can be informed with current events, it is their job and they get paid to give out credible news that is suppported with true facts.

People who have not undergone any professional training in journalism, I think, they cannot be totally credible to give out news because there’s a great possiblilty that they might be writing news or giving out information because they have a vestedd interest in that particular news, that is why it is sometimes hard to totally trust their work. Unlike professional journalists who studied and earn their position, who know how to deliver news, get news stories, who are aware of the ethics, laws and all other needed rules for giving out news. We should also remember that journalists are very careful as to how they report because their credibility is at stake when they are giving out news stories and on how they inform the mass people.

Week 4: News Story

Launched Program for the Handicapped in Mandaluyong City

A program for the handicapped was launched last Friday, December 8, 2006 in Mandaluyong City. This said program promises to ensure the disabled members of our society, particularly those who are from Mandaluyong City a better and safer access to public transportations particularly to tricycle transportations.

This program intends to remind the tricycle drivers to give the disabled members of the society a priority. Legible and responsible tricycle drivers were given stickers to be put in their tricycle so they can be easily seen and picked out by the disabled persons. This said sticker holds certain privileges for the disabled such as; it promotes the rights of the disabled person, serves as a reminder for their needs (special needs), etc. Tricycles with this said sticker are allowed to transport emergency cases (to hospitals, offices, other establishments and to other places they need to be). Also, they are given the right to go beyond their designated routes and cannot be charge for any violations by the existing traffic rules or traffic officers when they are transporting handicapped passengers.

The “Mandaluyong City Disabled Persons Affairs Division” and the “Tricycles Foundation” issued a signed memorandum for the handicapped, saying that they should not to be discriminated by any public utility drivers but rather they should be given extra understanding to their needs and to be prioritized at all times.

Also, an Accessibility Law Governing Physically-Challenge Individuals was put up by the local city government, with an ordinance which states that all devices like well-known exhibition of posters or stickers will be used to promote and uplift the awareness of the public to the rights of the handicapped and teach them to understand their special needs. This way not only the tricycle or public utility drivers but also the mass people can easily access, be taught and be aware of this said program for the disabled persons.

Certainly, the Mandaluyong City officials are seriously looking for more ways to promote this new program that they had launched and which intends to promote the right of the handicapped people in our community, this project surely aspires to uplift and understand their needs. Give assistance, to those sometimes “mis-understood” members of our community and at times neglected. The Mandaluyong officials intends to stretch their arms and give help to those who really need their attention and to be prioritized.

Week 4: News Story

Adoption

People not only from poor countries are the only ones who give out their babies for adoption but, also from other countries we lease expect to give up their babies. Those who we consider as capable of owning and raising kids are also the one who set their babies for adoption though it is not that well known.

Celebrities cases (like Madonna’s, Angelina Jolie’s) on adopting babies had un-wrapped the reality that inter-country adoption is not a one way street for the U.S. but rather a two way. It had opened the public’s eye not only about the process of adoption but also to the fact that the largest receiving country of adopted babies is the United States of America, but also little did we know that it sends out children to be adopted by family abroad, to Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand, etc.

In a survey that has been made late last year, there were around 102 American children that was adopted by Canadian families and which was a 30% increase from 2004 adoptions. Also, in 2003, 31 American children were adopted by families from Netherlands, who yearns to care and have a child of their own but cannot produce so they just adopt instead. Other countries like Germany, Sweden, and New Zealand also said to have adopted American children for the past years.

People from different countries are willing to adopt babies from other countries too, this has been proven by surveys that had been made thru the years and studies made by specialists. But no matter what, these babies should have a chance to have a good life.

An Adoption specialists had estimated that the number of United States children that are adopted abroad each year is lesser than 300. And, then the department of state had issued last 2005, a more than 22,000 visas, it was released for the arriving children that year and the poof on how many adopted children are sent and received every year.

They said that majority of this children are bi-racial and black infants, and their mothers (birth mothers) believes that they will have better lives in other countries and they will be less discriminated on their race and color, they only hope for the best for their babies that is why they willingly set them up for adoption, in a hope for a better life for their babies.
